The Chia Film Arts Festival was born as a tribute to expressive freedom, experimentation, and the poetics of reality that defined the Nouvelle Vague. Set in an enchanting landscape between the hills of Tuscia and the historic village of Chia, the festival celebrates cinema as an act of artistic revolution, giving space to short films, feature films, and documentaries that embody the innovative spirit of independent cinema, just as Truffaut, Godard, Varda, and Rohmer once did.
Chia is not just the backdrop of the festival, but a place rich with meaning. Pier Paolo Pasolini chose this very place as his final retreat, in the evocative Tower of Chia, where he sought refuge and inspiration in what were tragically the last years of his life. Chia, a place of contemplation and cinema, where the landscape becomes poetry, and reality blends with myth and emotion comes alive.
