Chia film festival

The Chia International Film Festival reaches its second edition, renewing its core mission: to celebrate cinema as a living gaze upon the world—an artistic gesture capable of questioning reality, traversing it, and reflecting it in all its human and poetic strength.

For the 2026 edition, the festival chooses to engage with Neorealism, one of the most profound and revolutionary eras in the history of Italian cinema. It is not merely a cinematic language, but an ethical and aesthetic vision: the desire to tell the truth of the "least among us," the dignity of marginal existences, and the fragility and greatness of the human being in their daily encounter with history, poverty, and hope.

Within the suspended and powerful landscape of Chia, nestled between the hills of Tuscia and the silent memory of the village, the festival welcomes short films, features, and documentaries that can embrace this heritage and translate it into the present. These are works that observe, listen, and bear witness—works capable of transforming cinema into a civic, poetic, and essential experience.

Chia is not just the host of the festival; it is the very essence of its soul. A land of visions, reflection, and truth, it carries an evocative power that enters into a deep dialogue with this year’s theme. Here, the landscape is not a backdrop, but a presence; not an ornament, but a narrative. It is a living substance that intertwines with faces, bodies, and stories.

In this second edition, the festival also expands its artistic horizons, complementing the official selection of films with new exhibition and participatory experiences. This creates an increasingly open encounter between cinema, visual arts, memory, and the territory. Because Neorealism, today, is not just something to remember: it is a gaze to be renewed.
